Vandy was found covered in brush and vegetative debris on September 8, 2018. Located on rural Sulphur Creek Road in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time of her death she was wearing Vanderbilt University gear as seen below in the flyer. There were few identifying markers due to the badly decomposed state of her body. Vandy’s body was exhumed in October 2022 for DNA testing by Othram Labs. Per the testing, Vandy is fifty percent African American and fifty percent European decent of which is primarily Italian. This is different than what was originally thought where they felt she was African American with mixed Hispanic descent.
The American regions she is associated with are: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.
Even with the extensive trees that have been built and the DNA matches, every attempt to identify Vandy through investigative genetic genealogy must be exhausted before reference testing can proceed.

Smurfette Jane Doe, found in Houston, Texas on October 16, 2012 concealed in a black garbage bag on the side of a busy road next to a gravel road leading to an oil field. She derived her name from the distinctive Smurfette shirt she was wearing. Cause of death could not be determined due to advanced decomposition. Through examination of her bones, the found facial asymmetry and that she may have been malnourished or ill as a child. She is determined to be a teenage female between the ages of 15-17 of mixed race, most likely African American and Caucasian. Smurfette Jane Doe had long curly dark hair that had been dyed at some point and wore a size 5 cargo pant, a distinctive blue-green shirt bearing an image of the cartoon character Smurfette, with text reading "HE SMURFS ME/HE SMURFS ME NOT". However, the decedent was also found wearing adult women's lingerie,[5] consisting of pink underpants and a black bra. The presence of these items despite her age and childish outfit has led investigators to suspect the victim was involved in sex trafficking. Additionally, the area where her corpse was found was known as a hub for brothels.

Background:
On August 27, 1978 two hunters discovered a shallow grave near Elgin, Oregon. The grave was beneath a log and about 100 feet from the road. The remains were facedown. They immediately notified authorities. The remains were skeletal, so some details here are estimated, remember. The Doe is believed to be a white female, who stood somewhere between 5’1” and 5’3” and weighed between 115 to 125 lbs. in life. The hair was a sandy blonde color. The age of the person was estimated to be between 14 and 25 years old at time of death. And she was pregnant, likely in the third trimester.
The shallow grave also held many clothing items believed to belong to the Doe. There was a halter-type top (sometimes listed as a bra), red Catalina pants which may have been modified, high-top sneakers, scraps of red and white cloth, and a zipper (which suggest a decomposed piece of clothing). There was also cord in the shallow grave with the body.

Background:
If you got a chance to read up about her, she was the daughter of serial killer, Terry Peder Rasmussen, also known as The Chameleon Killer. He went by many names and his true identity wasn't known until after his death. He was serving time under the name of Larry Vanner in High Desert State Prison in California for the murder of Eunsoon Jun. He said it was his wife but no marriage records have ever been found. When he was arrested for Eunsoon's murder, he agreed to be fingerprinted. The fingerprints came back to Curtis Kimball, another of his assumed names and one he was arrested under for child endangerment of 'Lisa'. Lisa was later found out to be Dawn Beaudin, the daughter of Denise Beaudin from New Hampshire. Denise Beaudin was associated to Rasmussen who was using an assumed name of Bob Evans at the time. Lisa, now known as Dawn was only five months old when her mother and Denise left New Hampshire with Bob Evans. Denise's family never reported her missing until 2016. Her father just assumed she was starting a new life with Bob and her daughter. Denise's body has never been found.
The Bodies in The Barrels
The first barrel was found in 1985 in Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire. It contained Marlyse Honeychurch and her daughter Marie Vaughn. The second barrel found about a 100 yards away in 2000 contained Sarah McWaters and the unidentified human remains.
It wasn't until 2017, seven years after Terry Rasmussen died in jail, that they were able to identify, through DNA, who he was and start connecting the dots. At that time they were able to identify Marlyse and her two daughters, but they soon found out the fourth body was not related to them. The fourth body came back that she was the daughter of Terry. Her mother or family has yet to be identified.
Background:
In 1980, hunters stumbled upon a grim discovery in a wooded area of Mississippi: the body of an unidentified female, later nicknamed "Ms. Wiggins" by investigators. She was found wrapped in two green trash bags, with her hands and feet bound together with twine. The circumstances surrounding her death suggested she was not killed at the scene, adding layers of mystery to her case. Investigators suspected a potential connection to the Harrison County Jane Doe due to similar circumstances surrounding both cases.
Characteristics:
"Ms. Wiggins" possessed several distinguishing characteristics, including shoulder-length dark to medium brown hair, a healed right clavicle fracture, and a healed nasal fracture with deviation to the right of the nasal bridge. She exhibited slight porotic hyperostosis, indicating the possibility of chronic iron deficiency anemia at some point in her life. Additionally, it was believed she may have given birth to a child many years before her death and was likely right-handed. Her muscular build and well-developed upper extremities suggested she may have held a physically demanding job or been involved in athletics.
Dental Findings:
One of the most notable features of "Ms. Wiggins" was her extensive dental work, which included four platinum dental bridges and several root canals. These dental details provided valuable clues that could potentially aid in her identification.
